CMC participates in the communication conference of the Gulf region





CMC participated, represented by the CEO of the Commission, Dr. Burhan Shawi, in the second annual session of communications’ conference of the Gulf region, which held in Jordan (Amman) for the period from 22-23/2/2010, which included both Iraq and Egypt, Bahrain, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UAE and Yemen.
The Iraqi delegation consisted of Dr. Amir Al-Bayati, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Communications and Mr. Hadi al-Musawi, representative of the Iraqi Ministry of Defense, as well as representatives of a number of communications commissions in the Arab Gulf States, and representatives of the Hashemite of Jordan Kingdom and U.S. Central Command.
During the conference the exchange of information has done and also discussion the issues of common concern with regard to regional telecommunication issues, through intensive lectures and discussion’s panels which focused on treating the communications affairs, capabilities and opportunities to support regional stability and security efforts, and begin to determine the modality of supporting regional efforts in collectively form through improving the exchange of information and technological capabilities.
As the Delegates also discussed the importance of continued cooperation between the region’s states with the United States of America and manufacturer of communications systems Companies, and developing the relations of partnership and communication capabilities which distinct and permanent in the region, which would serve all participating States.
Also Dr. Burhan Shawi talked about the specificity of the Iraqi experience in the telecommunications sector, and the surrounding circumstances and the effect of the terrorist operations on the reality of the mobile phone companies work, and the communications’ future, and the tendency to issue the fourth license for the third-generation from the communications’ technology and the importance of investment in this sector.
