Dr.Burhan Shawi the CEO of the Commission met with his Excellency the Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council, Judge Medhat al-Mahmoud, on Thursday morning, 29 - this April, as they studied many legal matters concerning the Commission's work, and its projects in creating a legal environment for the Iraqi media. They also agreed to convene an international conference on press laws and the concept of freedom of expression, in order to access to blogs and drafts of laws which can be submitted to the legislative power which represented of the next parliament.
As they also studied the reality of the Iraqi media and legal abuses which practiced by some of the Iraqi mass media, and it constitutes psychological stress and confusion on the work of an independent judiciary.
From his side, his Excellency Judge Medhat al-Mahmoud expressed the readiness of the Supreme Judicial Council to support the Commission in its legal orientations to organize the media sector in Iraq and its assist in any necessary legal consultation.
